The Sports Anime Shipping Olympics is an event run by fans, for fans, of all manner of sports animes and mangas, including Hikaru no Go. You join a team, make prompts and create fills in bonus rounds (for any fandom!), work on main round entries with your team, and wait for those sweet, sweet points to roll in.
Not interested in being competitive this summer? You can join Team Grandstand and still participate in bonus rounds! Come by and make those hikago prompts you've always wanted to see.

Not Prime Time is currently taking sign ups until April 30th. Sign up info and the 2017 tag set. This year NPT is using platonic and romantic (& and /) relationships instead of characters.
Hikaru no Go is eligible and plenty of platonic and romantic relationships are nominated in the tag set. It'd be great to see people request it. :D
Hope to see you there!
More info here in my journal!
Oh, and, there's no minimum word count limit, so don't worry about that. No sign-ups either, so you can decide to join at any time. Deadline is, naturally, May 5.
Anybody want to play?
Just thought this might be of interest to some esamastation is holding a "random hikaru no go event" on tumblr
Random Hikago Event
Announcing the Random Hikago Event (to hopefully breathe some tiny bit of life to a pretty much dead fandom), between 8th and 14th of August, 2016. Or somewhere around that time. Entries can be whatever. We’re not picky. Just, you know. Hikaru no Go stuff, that would be nice.
Here’s some prompts to use, if you feel like it. It’s really not required.
1. Nigiri (procedure common in Japan at the beginning of an even game to decide who will play the black stones.)
2. Fuseki (arraying stones. this normally occurs in the first moves of a game so fuseki is often used as a synonym for opening.)
3. Honte (the proper move; a solid play that leaves few or no weaknesses behind and has a followup.)
4. Miai (denotes that there are two different options such that, if one player takes one, the other player can take the other.)
5. Seki (mutual life. in its simple form, it is a sort of symbiosis where two live groups share liberties which neither of them can fill without dying.
6. Atari (the state of a stone or group of stones that has only one liberty.)
7. Yose (moves that approach fairly stable territory, typically enlarging one’s own territory while reducing the opponent’s. because the typical yose occurs in the endgame, it is at times used as a synonym for endgame.)
Idea was to do a thing per day or something like that but seriously, Hikaru no Go is pretty much a dead fandom, I’m pretty sure we’d all be happy with like random scribbles and doodles too. Make origami, write some meta analysis, make a Sai-plushie, do whatever, post your masterpiece and tag it #random hikago event, and you’re in.
1. Go check out blind_go fics: round 18
2. Sign up for sportsanime! Also, not_primetime sign-ups are closed, but you can still submit to Prime Time Madness since Hikaru no Go has been nominated.
3. Post in the #hikagoday hashtag on Twitter or #hikagoday tag on Tumblr.
4. Reread the manga or rewatch the anime.
5. Play the "Let's Five" meme on this post:
- Comment on this post with a list topic relating to Hikaru no Go, e.g. "Five things Hikaru hides in his underwear drawer", "Five favorite crack fics", "Five people Ochi actually likes", etc.
- Reply to a topic with a list of five!
For those not in the know, SASO — or the Sports Anime Shipping Olympics — is a fanwork-creation event being held this summer. Participants will form teams based around ships or series, take part in main and bonus rounds, and produce all sorts of amazing content about the sports anime and manga which have been nominated for the event.
Seeing as Hikaru no Go is one of the fandoms nominated, I wanted to let folks following the community know that sign-ups are officially open! It would be super cool to have a fandom team for Hikaru no Go, or to have a ship team (akihika anyone?) for whatever pairing members might be interested in — only four people are required to form a successful team, with the maximum per team being eight. The event was a lot of fun last year, and I whole-heartedly encourage any fanfic authors or fanartists to consider signing up!
For more information, the rules for the event are here, and the page with sign-up info and a link to the sign-up form is here. If you just want to see what teams are coming together for the event, there is a live roster updating here!
Are you a little intimidated by a fandom-event running for as long as SASO does? Not sure you can commit to being on a team? Or are you perhaps more of a consumer than a creator? If these things are true, please consider signing up for the grandstand! It's SASO's non-competing team who are there just to have fun, consume fanworks, maybe make a prompt or do a fill if the inspiration strikes.
Bonus rounds during the event are run like prompt memes — each has a theme prompts are made for, and participants fill those prompts with fic or art or other fan-created media for points — and they're one of the most fun things about SASO. If you'd like to be able to make Hikaru no Go related prompts and drive the creation of more hikago fanwork, please consider signing up for team grandstand!
Anyone who chooses to come play with us this summer: I'm excited to see you there!!

It wasn't that Waya was in love with Shindou or anything. Not even close. He and Shindou were just friends. But he was jealous that Touya took up all of Shindou's time and Waya wasn't going to lose to Touya so easily.

Shindou learned to see Sai in his Go and soon learned to see Sai in the things Sai loved. Now though, as he watched the fake fish in the lobby of the Go institute, Shindou wondered if he could translate Sai's love of non-Go things into his own Go. Touya's there to help Shindou out with his goal. After all, it wasn't only Shindou's life that Sai had touched. They wouldn't even be together if it wasn't for Sai.

–> (for more info on the exchange and schedule, click here.)
To nominate fandom(s) and/or character(s):
- Sign in to your AO3 account and go this [LINK] which will take you to our “Tagset” page.
- Click “Nominate” and fill in the form.
The nomination period ends FEBRUARY 7TH, 2016.
Thought I'd post this one up for anyone interested in nominating. Hikaru no Go is one of the eligible fandoms!
There are only a few Hikaru no Go ships nominated, but the tagset is here if you'd like to view it. Seeing as ShipSwap is a panfandom exchange, it requires that participants make 3 - 6 requests with 1 - 20 possible ships in each, as well as 3 - 10 offers with 1 - 20 possible ships in each. The main page for the exchange is here.
Anyway, if nothing else Akira/Hikaru is nominated, and I figure members of this community might like to check it out while signups are still open! They run until February 9th, plus there is a FAQ with a complete schedule. Happy shipping!
Chocolate Box is a low commitment exchange for both ships and gen combos, to be revealed for Valentines Day, that has a couple of Hikaru no Go relationships nominated!
What is Chocolate Box?

Nominations: 20 - 29 December
Signups: 1-7 January
Assignments go out: by 10 January
