If May 5th and

blind_go fics have put you in the Hikago mood, why not have a drabble fest?

Leave a prompt (anonymous commenting is enabled if you want to request anonymously) in the comments, and reply to other prompts with fics! (Or art, vids, icons...any form of fanwork is eligible.)

To make it a little more exciting, I thought we could add in a little friendly team competition. Prompt-fillers, please indicate in a comment whether you are on Team Touya or Team Morishita, and earn a point for each prompt you fill.

The same prompt can be filled more than once. If you're filling prompts anonymously, just make sure to indicate the team somewhere in your comment.

I'll tally up the results next week (May 14 at 6 PM PST), along with links to all the filled prompts. Members on the winning team will get 20 Dreamwidth Points each!

Two of the players were Americans, that much he could gather from the way they spoke, drawing out the vowels in the same way his English teacher did. The third, a middle-aged man with fair hair and side-burns, spoke with a different accent. The last of his opponents was a Chinese ex-champion. All four seemed to know one another.

Shin couldn’t wait for the game to start. Facing four players from across the globe he quivered in anticipation of the four-fronted battle.

“Nervous?” asked one of the Americans. “Your teacher is sure putting a lot of pressure on you, having you face us all at once!” Shin smiled back and nodded politely. Knowing none of their strategies or true abilities, he was anxious for the game to start. The hall was filled with the click of stones, concentrated faces and murmured conversations. The world of Go - the love of his life - was here.

“It’s the first time Ive been in Japan since the last convention here, you remember, Doug.”
“Had a blast, but we didn’t find Sai.”
“Sai.” repeated the fair man
“You heard of ‘Sai’, son?”
Shin nodded again, “I study all the masters.”
“Sai led the Go world a merry dance, I can tell you.”
“As clever at hiding as he was at the game. I wonder what became of him.”
“And when Sai played Touya Meijin…”

Shin felt such longing to start the game that he could feel his heart racing and he began to imagine the stones themselves growing impatient in the Go-kes. This friendly chat was the calm before the storm.

“Do you know Touya Meijin, son?”
“Yes, Touya-sensei.” Shin replied.
“You’ve studied with Touya Meijin? I think we are in for a hard battle here Doug,” The man smiled.
“But this kid can’t have been born when Touya Meijin played Sai. When was that?”
“2001, Spring 2001.”
“I’m fourteen years old.” Shin pointed at himself. “Born in 2001.”
“Ah-ha, but I bet you weren’t playing go back then.”
“I've always played go.”
There was laughter all round.
“Never too young to start with Go, or with mind games, eh.” Doug looked at his three companions. “Let’s get these games on the road before he’s got us all running scared.”

The fair man paused. “I remember now. It was in April, the same April my sister got married. I’ll never forget it - someone rang me in the night to tell me that Sai was playing Touya Meijin on internet. What a game that was…”

“I wasn’t there.” Shin said, lifting the first of the Go-ke lids. He gave a slight shrug of his shoulders. “I was born in May.”
