HOW IT WORKS:
Post prompts in the comments. It can be anything: scenarios, pretty pictures, kinks, songs, random words, screen shots, or whatever you think might be inspiring.

THEN post the fanworks inspired by the prompt.

There are no limits to how many prompts you can post (the more the merrier, in fact) or how you use them. Post fic, fanart, icons, podfic, fanmix, vids, gifs, crafts, games, poems, ANY MEDIUM!

RULES:
-Please play nice! No kink shaming. No pairing bashing.
-Warn for potential triggers in both prompts and fills.
-Try to keep one prompt per comment. You can comment as many times as you like, but for the sake of organization, it's easier to break things up.
-List your pairing (if any) in the subject line to make it easier to find.
-Fills can be any medium, any length, any anything, but if you post off-comm, provide a link to the work in the thread of the original prompt.

Those of you who have been participating in

hikarunogo activities for a while probably have seen us linking to the Go Go Hikago chat as a fun way for us to socialize in real time.

bookshop generously has been hosting this chatroom for us on her Campfire account.

hostilecrayon, one of the co-mods, came up with the brilliant idea of having a chat to accompany the anime rewatch. However, the popularity of the chat exceeded even our expectations, and it's become in many ways a central hub for our community and our fandom.

Since Campfire accounts are not free, the mod team has agreed that it's time for us to look into migrating the chat so that we can pay for the costs ourselves. We are exploring several options at the moment and would like to ask you, the community, to weigh in on what you would prefer.

The options:

Campfire - We could open our own Campfire account and set up a chatroom there. The advantages are that we'd be using the same chat software so people would be familiar with it. Campfire allows for guest access, so no one needs to create accounts to join the room, and the chatroom can be reached from any browser without downloading any additional software. The main disadvantages are that chat transcripts would only be available to people who do create an account and that there is poor mobile support for Campfire (there are Android and iOS apps, but both have issues). There is also no PM feature.

phpFreeChat - This is open source chat software that we can install on a website. You can see a list of the features here. If we go this route, you should be able to access the chat through an easy-to-remember URL, plus we can add on a variety of features, including logging all chat transcripts in a text file that all chat participants can access easily, moderator controls like blocking spammers, and styling the chatroom itself (maybe we could put together a Hikago theme?). It's also mobile-friendly.

AJAX Chat - This is another open source chat software that we can install on a website. Similar as phpFreeChat for the most part, though it has a slightly different list of add-on features.

IRC - We could also create a dedicated IRC channel. The main disadvantage is that IRC usually requires a client or at least a browser extension, and many IRC networks do require you to register your nick. On the other hand, IRC has All the Features.

There is a fannish wiki called Fanlore, where although fans are welcome to edit any time of the year, they have a special event running this month, Stub September where the goal is to expand existing articles.

Some of the pages they've identified as requiring more work are the

http://fanlore.org/wiki/Category:Examples_Wanted - pages where the articles themselves are considered alright, but the fanwork examples such as say fanfiction that demonstrates what the article is talking about are... lacking. Either in quantity of examples or diversity of examples.

I thought that it might be an interesting challenge for us to try and insert as many Hikaru no Go examples into the wiki as possible, or rec lists that feature Hikaru no Go works, etc, etc. :D

Additionally, I noticed on the Hikaru no Go fan page, that it could possibly use more background information, and that there are some pages that could use creation:

We are right now planning on fine tuning the details, which will come shortly, but we are planning on running a big bang competition with official sign ups starting August 28th. (You of course could always start now, the basic requirement will be that it's not a publicly posted WIP or completed work, before revealled for our challenge)

hikarunogo were to host the organisation of a big bang would you prefer:

o A Dreamwidth account created by the moderators with individual user details added, and the moderator controls the formatting, such as embedding any additional media within the work. e.g. Blindgo (http://answer-key.livejournal.com/), deathmatch (http://uchikomi.dreamwidth.org/)

o A sister Dreamwidth community, where big bang authors and supplementary creators, co-ordinate their post in advance, post a finished copy to the community, which would wait in a queue for the moderators to approve.

o Creating a sub-collection on Ao3, where users can post works to be hidden until the reveal date.

Title: Close Encounters (or Third Time's The Charm)

Summary: Sex isn't a big deal to Waya. He doesn't really seek it out, but when he has it, he takes it at face value and moves on. It doesn't bother him to see his sexual partners with other people - it's not like he'd wanted more from them than he'd gotten. But it is a bit lonely. That is, until he finally stops waiting for things to come to him and instead, makes a move of his own.

Notes: I wrote this ages ago, but I couldn't post it because it would have been a giant neon sign blinking an arrow right in my direction for Blind Go. Then I kinda forgot about it for a bit, ahaha. This is just a short little romp through Waya's sex life.

Waya isn’t a hundred percent sure how it happened, but it’s happening now, and that’s all his brain can focus on with Touya’s tongue down his throat and his hands pulling roughly at his belt.

Summary: The first time Waya fools around with Shindou, he figures it's no big deal. After all, he's well aware of Shindou's disturbing level of interest in Touya Akira. They could fool around for a while, and if Touya got his head out of his ass and figured out his feelings for Shindou, no harm, no foul. Then one night, Shindou ups the ante from fooling around to sex, and quite suddenly, all bets are off. Waya wants more, and despite Isumi's concerned advice, Waya is determined to get it.

Unfortunately, he's not the only one after Shindou Hikaru, and despite Waya's ferocity, Touya has the advantage.

blind_go entry, and also my first adventure inside Waya's head. Apparently my Waya muse comes smothered in angst. I want to thank the Fabulous Fandom Five, Ver, Very, Liz and Inoru (the fifth would be me, heh), and so many other people helped me in one way or another, like Snarky Llama, Pye, KRIM, Kelkatan and Daisy. Also Qem, who was my constant reminder that Blind Go is an ANONYMOUS contest and that I probably should work on not oozing spoilers every single time I opened my mouth - not by hushing me, but by telling me, with no little amusement, that she usually puts me on her 'not allowed to guess' blacklist during BG, thanks to BG Chat, where I have always said WAY TOO MUCH. I tried really hard not to spoil her, but I'm pretty sure I still failed, heh. Thanks to everyone who had a hand in this, and also all the love in the world for Trixie and Pye, without which, there would be no BG and consequently, no fic to share (even if it IS angsty as all hell). Hikago is the best fandom on the planet, I swear! <3

The premise of this fic came from one of those moments when your mind jumps from topic to topic based on bizarre associations that only to you, and talking to Ver about potential stories led me to considering Waya, who I've never really written, and definitely not as the main character, and my mind zipped backwards in time to one of the first (if not actually the first) Hikago fics I ever wrote - a sloppy little drabble called Sweet Surrender where Hikaru can't be with either of the people he loves (Touya and Waya), and he's a complete mess. It comes complete with a line of dialogue that is clearly an awkwardly placed song lyric. *Dies* Though that and this are completely different concepts, you have that shitty little drabble to thank for this monster, heh.

Hopefully, this fic is a hell of a lot better than the one that inspired it - but that's for you to judge. :D

It didn't have to be a big deal; they could just experiment for a while, and if Touya ever opened his eyes and saw what was right in front of him, well, Shindou could ride off into the proverbial sunset with him, no harm no foul.

Mostly we write and babble, and occasionally still have rewatches, though I need to catch up with the posts - the last episode we watched was the 25-26 double episode. When we do rewatch, it's always on Saturdays at around 7:30 PST - the standard time - if enough people are there and want to watch. But you'll find us playing and writing and inspiring each other pretty much every night of the week! In fact, on some non-rewatch nights, we've hit nine chatters at one time! Clearly this means the rewatch chat is a total success, even if I dropped the ball a bit. :D
