Voting closes on Thursday, August 9, 9 PM PDT!

You may notice that the polls are now closed to members of this community only. The mods reached this decision after noticing the number of otherwise empty journals that were recently created voting in the last round. Since it is difficult for us to ascertain whether these journals are lurkers, newcomers or sockpuppets, we decided that the easiest solution was to require such journals to become members of the community first. OpenID users also have the ability to join this community, if they want to vote (and indeed, we've gone ahead and made all OpenID subscribers to the community full members).

Several participants have noted the uneven number of voters among the matches. While we know it takes time to review all the submissions and decide between them, we'd like to encourage all voters to vote for all the matches. In particular, while we can't prevent voters from solely voting for one team and ignoring the other matches, we would like to ask that voters try to give all teams equal attention, in the spirit of the deathmatch competition.

As you may have seen, you can now read and vote for round 3!

Participants, if there are any minor edits you would like to make, please email me or leave a comment below. (All comments are screened.)

Once again, all participants should feel free to encourage their friends in the fandom to vote, but please do not mention your pseudonym or your team.

It's been brought to my attention that some participants were unhappy with the method of mod's choice breaking any ties between teams.

Now, prior to resorting to the round robin model to accommodate the odd number of teams, the original rules said that any ties between teams would be resolved by the mods deciding which team would advance. However, due to the switch to the round robin model, this method of tiebreaking may no longer be suitable.

Despite our best attempts to ensure integrity by excluding any mods who may be on the teams in question from being involved in tiebreaking, it's true that all three mods are participating in this deathmatch. The objection raised was that the mods may have a conflict of interest in deciding how to break the tie, even if they were not members of either team, since the results could affect their final standings after the round robin.

After some consideration, here is an alternative method of handling ties that would be fair while also easy for the mods to manage:

- Only teams who win against their opponent will get a point. Teams that draw will get zero points.

- At the end of the round robin, if more than two teams are tied for the highest number of points, the total number of matches won across all four rounds for each team will be summed up to decide the top two teams.

- If more than two teams are tied for total number of matches, then the number of votes for each team across all four rounds will be tallied up to decide the top two teams.

If we go with this alternative method, round 2 results will be retroactively amended.

I'd like to hear from all participants on whether they would like us to switch to the alternative method or stick with the original method, as it will affect everyone's relative standings and it will also be a substantial amendment to the original rules being made halfway through the challenge.

Anonymous comments are allowed, as usual. Please weigh in before round 3 voting closes; I will make the decision based on the majority opinion in the comments by that point.

Possibly, that is:

[insanejournal.com profile] bbtp_challenge. It's an all porn, all the time challenge, taking place on September 1st - and only on September 1st.

All fandoms and all pairings are welcome. The only requirement? Porn. Everything posted to the comm should be porntastic porn.

(The very few rules the comm has are outlined in the profile.)

Have fun! :D
