Also, something random I found out during the process of writing this story: did you guys know that Oteai games are no longer a thing in the real world? The whole system was dismantled in 2003 and now dan ranks are determined by mostly preliminary title matches. I am happy Oteai games are still part of the canon though because trying to incorporate the new system into fic would give me a headache probably.
