It's me again! *waves*
I am here to pimp Hikaru no Tea and various Hikago fanmixes. Perhaps you can make a whole ritual out of it. Brew a cup of Hikago tea, put on good music, and delve into fic (aaaand thankfully blind_go is just around the corner).
Not too long, Aja, better known as
bookshop in Hikago circles, made a couple of Hikaru no Go tea blends on Adagio. You can buy individual blends (there are currently 6 available: Akira, Hikaru, Waya, Isumi, Sai & the Hand of God) but if you buy them in a ship you also get a discount!
I've ordered Sai & the Hand of God ship and I love it. Both blends are light, dreamy and rather wintry. But more than anything, I am just delighted to have a picture of Sai on my kitchen-top. Not sure how many people have experience with Adagio fandom teas but Hikaru no Tea was my first order and I am very satisfied with it. I can't wait to get the Akira/Hikaru ship next. I mean, just read this description of Akira's blend--
Come after me! Akira's somber, serious, studious disposition combines with his outbursts of Go-related (and Hikaru-related) passion, along with his take-no-prisoners competitive mode and his absolutely clueless fashion sense. It all adds up to a blend that's earthy, dark, and rich, with lots of spice, outbursts of sweetness, and inexplicably bright colors. Enjoy!
Hikaru-related passion. *giggles*
Anyway, on to the fanmixes.
I made two Hikago fanmixes and there are two more up on 8tracks. Let me know if you know any others. I am always on the look-out for good fanmixes.
1) Box of Stones
The original Hikago fanmix on 8tracks. This one is Akira/Hikaru focused, naturally. Most of the songs are on the mellow side, with some outstanding indie ballads. My song of choice for this one is Ghosts by Laura Marling.
He would stare at empty chairs
Think of the ghosts that once sat there
2) Over & Over
Another Akira/Hikaru fanmix with an excellent mix of softer, romantic ballads and heavier rock songs, portraying perfectly "the chaotic and beautiful relationship between Akira Touya and Hikaru Shindou." My favorite song from this mix is Bloom by Paper Kites.
Oh, the whole world it is sleeping,
But my world is you.
3) within a thousand years
One of mine! Not Akira/Hikaru. *gasp*. I was working on an Akira/Hikaru mix but kept coming across songs that reminded me of Sai and the mark he left on Hikaru. Obviously, it's not a very lighthearted mix. There are a couple of foreign songs -- two Japanese and one Russian. My song of choice for this one (hey, I can have a favorite among favorites too!) is Sparks by Ryoksopp.
Maybe within a thousand years
You'll be here
4) we are stars
It took me a while but I got around to doing an Akira/Hikaru fanmix of my own (you can't have too many of those, right?) I've rambled about this mix on tumblr if you are curious. My song of choice for this mix is...I feel like I pimped In a Manner of Speaking enough, and even though it is my favorite, I will go for a different one this time. We Are Stars by The Pierces.
We are moons,
Throw ourselves around each other,
We are oceans,
Being controlled by the pull of another.
