SYNOPSIS
In another tournament, three members of the cutthroat Kaio Go Club face three members of the budding Haze Go Club. As tensions rise, the antagonism between both teams culminates in a telling match between Akira and Hikaru. Who will win? After the excitement of the tournament, there's nothing left for Hikaru and Kimihiro to do... except learn how to play more Go! In the process, Hikaru finds a way to let Sai play all the Go his fluttering heart desires without everybody pointing and staring at Hikaru.
Chapter 30 starts with Mitani teaching Akari how to play! Akari's apologetic, but Mitani says it's fine and offers to teach her how to cheat. XD
Tsutsui joins them, but wonders where Hikaru is - turns out he's gone to play internet go. Tsutsui's a bit suprised by the timing, but not really by the interest.
There's a super cute scene where Akari says that she's inspired to start her own girls team now! And Mitani and Tsutsui look all happy when they think about the team work they did in the tournament.

Meanwhile, Hikaru's all eyes and beaming at what looks likes a Imac G3 (Qem's sure of this, because Qem /hated/ the g3s, although it makes sense in a cafe, since they were pretty spiffy looking compared to the competition - all brightly coloured plastic.) Mitani's sister says he can play for free but he has to keep it a secret between him and her.
Also; Mitani's sister is a babe.
Hikaru, carefully types out the name that they will play under. A name that will reverberate around the world.

We then get treated to flashes of Go players around the world! The American representative! He's hopeful that since Japan's getting weaker that it might be a chance to break the great Asian wall (America came 7th). The he starts a game against a name he's never seen before, a player from Japan....
THEN OFF TO HOLLAND! Holland's representative, who finds that his local players aren't enough of a challenge so he plays mostly online, and beat the American representative in the previous year, coming 6th! Although his realworld job might be in a bit of trouble.
"OH! I get it! That was a pro!" hmm, well, I guess Sai did play professionally for his time, and with Torajiro. Just his qualifications are a little out of date. :3
The scene at the end of this chapter is one of my favourites - it's so adorable seeing HIkaru and Sai bonding over the computer.

Chapter 31!
Hikaru's surprised to find that someone's suddenly talking to him in English!
Mitani's sister translates the compliment, wher ethe other player asks if he's a professional but HIkaru just describes the other guy as too weak.
Mitani's sister shows him how to cancel out so he doesn't have to reply to the other players.
Sai's most impressed by this mysterious box.
Hikaru spies zelda in hte list, thinking hey it's that probable kid! So they decide to play him. Sai says that even though Zelda resigned quickly - he's stronger than the others, as he understood the situation more quickly.
Hikaru sends a "I'm strong aren't I?" and begins his career of perplexing Waya and helping to weirdify Waya's life.
Yes, Waya. Everything is Hikaru's fault.
Zelda tells Shindou he's an insei - which is where Hikaru starts to get the idea...
It's the pro exam prelimaries first day, and Waya is not amused. It's his third time taking the exam, but he's still all cuaght up in his thoughts against a certain obnoxious and yet strong guy he played against! (sorry Waya, those are two different people)
Touya (who most people knew would be there, but didn't know the face - Fuku who he played against first, knew though, since Fuku was basically decimated in that game - which also annoys Waya) wonders if a pro would really say something like that?
Waya's again, not amused! He's so cute when he's grouchy. XD
Meanwhile, the previous American representative is excited about the chance to play against Sai - only problem is as the world is starting to notice Sai - he's getting too popular to easily play against. Weird thing is, a pro wouldn't be playing against amatuers like this. How can someone be this good, yet content to waste their time online? :3
A lot of them are super eager to meet him at the amateur tournament - he must be aiming for it right!
Except Waya wonders; it's summer break and he's playing all day. Could it be a kid? NO WAY!
Random thoughts;
It would be kind of hilarious to have a future fic with Akari picking out a cheater, and everyone saying "oh it must be because of her professional friend" but it's just because she remembers all the tricks Mitani taught her to look out for. XD
(I used RoT13 but use spoiler methods as you deam appropriate)
This is where it starts for Hikaru making Waya's life hell - what other ways has he done so? :3
Anyone else want to bitch about g3's with me? :3

Date: 2013-06-21 06:37 pm (UTC)But more importantly (for me) AAAAAHHHH THE INTRODUCTION OF WAYA!! With his enormous eyebrows at this point in the manga!! Shindou trolling him for the first time! I loves it so much!
I think I made a post once about those two American netgo players and their epic gay love. I named one of them Brad Kid (he's in my icon).
So easy to make fun of this part of the manga because Obata is still drawing in a more goofy style. Most of the non-Japanese players look ridiculous.
