I just had some general Waya questions that I thought might be interesting to share our answers on:

What is your favourite Waya moment?

i think waya is rated about right! he's a fun character. ppl seem to like him. seems legit.

at first i misread #2 as favorite waya [something] not moment. I LIKE HIS HAIR. ALSO THAT HE WEARS CAMOUFLAGE PRINT THINGS A LOT. good call waya. idk what my favorite moment is tho. maybe when reread finishes i will know haha.

Hmm, he's a pretty popular character, although he tends to be used as a supporting character rather than a star in his own right.

What is your favourite Waya moment?
When he's cheerfully teaching Shindou stuff and taking him under his wing. XD

I think it's accurate - Waya strikes me as a very... socially aware character that's pretty keen on his place in the world - he's still learning, although he knows enough to take others under his wings.

How do you feel about his relationships with the other insei?
I think he works prettSomeoen pointed out that he tends to hang out more with the upper half of the class than the lower which is a little telling when you think about it...

Waya - over or underrated?: I agree completely with Qem in that while he's one of the favorites, he's also shuffled to the role of sidekick most of the time, which is sad.

Well, while he's not the oldest student that Morishita has, he's "the senior apprentice" compared to Hikaru, so it still works. And yes, as others mentioned, he DOES take Hikaru under his wing, so there's that too.


How do you feel about his relationships with the other insei?: It's an interesting point that he doesn't really hang out with the lower level insei- except Hikaru when he's there, obviously. It's true as far as we know. Whether that's by accident or design is up for debate, but I kind of think that maybe he doesn't think too much about it. The upper half of the class is a little clique-ish, and Waya isn't stupid. So even though he's a friendly guy, maybe he sort of limits his interactions with the lower half to keep the peace, as it were. I don't know.

You know, that makes me wonder about why he chose Zelda to begin with. If he liked the game, which... well, he probably wouldn't have picked something Zelda themed if he didn't... then obviously he'd know that Zelda was the princess, and not the male hero. Kinda makes me wonder if he wants to be saved from something.

Against: Honestly? I don't think that Waya's that good of a liar. He's certainly not very good about hiding his emotions. Besides, when someone's THAT smart, it tends to show somewhere, and for as long as we know him in canon, he never slips. Not once. Just saying.

Waya is that friend who keeps everyone from drifting apart. He organizes events, he thinks of others a lot, he actually calls people and worries about them. The other insei (especially Hikaru) will not truly appreciate this until they are older!

Maybe Waya is actually an undercover idiot savant rather than a run-on-the-mill undercover genius.

For: He seems to suck at academics, but he is good at Go and seems to have good instincts.

Against: ...nothing! The theory is perfect!
